Originally designed by a local Wimpey architect for himself at the end of the 1960s, Greystones was purchased at auction by the new owners. Rather than demolishing the property, an ambitious plan was put forward by architects Scarratt & Martyn to remodel the house and Jonathan Case Builders were selected to undertake the works.
A new structure was built to link the main part of the house with the former annex and garage, which were converted to provide additional living accommodation and a ground-floor bedroom.
Large bi-fold doors were installed to open up the dining room and bring the south-facing views into the house. While externally, the extraordinary original butterfly roof was augmented by increasing the size of the eaves. We then insulated the whole structure and clad the external walls to visually tie in the once separate buildings.
The whole of the interior was then brought up to date with 3 new bathrooms, a complete kitchen installation and 4 refurbished bedrooms:
Complete refurbishment and remodelling of the building including major external insulation works
Single ply membrane roof (Sarnafil)
Bespoke aluminium windows and bi folding doors
4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, utility, cloak room
